Hello! I want to get a Jack Russell but since I've heard that this is a dog that really needs serious training and this would be my first dog, it makes me a bit worried. Anything you recomend when getting a JR?
Hi! First off don’t believe all the bad rumors you hear about jack russells. Most people can’t believe that my dogs are jacks because of how calm and well behaved they are! Its all about training them. It will take some time but as long as you are persistent with your training you will have a wonderful relationship with your dog. The most important thing is making sure they have enough room to RUN. They are hyper dogs but if they get a few hours of day to be crazy they will be fine!! I live at a house with a huge yard (we have an invisible fence because of the road) so they have a lot of room to run around. So just make sure you have somewhere to take your dog so they can get their energy out. You may have noticed a lot of my pictures of them are of them sleeping! That’s because they play a lot of their day and are exhausted by the afternoon. Jack Russells are really smart, so teaching them tricks is a lot of fun and they usually pick it up pretty quickly. If you get a female just be careful because they are hunters, so they like to trail on animals like rabbits. Thats also why we have an invisible fence (we have two females). Just do some more research online and love your dog unconditionally! Good luck!
Make sure you submit me a picture if you end up getting one :)
